FRAYED FEATHERS NEWSLETTER
Where reconciliation takes flight and colonization takes a hike.

High-quality youth feedback is how we ensure youth representation at all levels.
Happy Monday, Indigenous youth reconciliation advocates!
Every Monday, we explore fundamental youth strategy concepts to help you level up your youth reconciliation game! We incorporate lived experience and expertise while curating additional reading to bring you the most value possible!
This week, we discuss how to improve youth engagement so that you may receive high-quality feedback from young participants.
Before we jump into my shenanigans, I want to highlight what’s been happening in the sector.
Firstly, Indigenous Youth Roots (IYR) has released the Indigenous Youth Reconciliation Barometer 2024: Building Connected Futures report.
If you're serious about learning more about Indigenous youth reconciliation, this report gives a clear picture of the current state:
Over the next few weeks I’ll be unpacking this report on the Frayed Feathers’ podcast. My goal is to explain and create a position for all the common discussion points in youth reconciliation, which I think all of you folks would gain value from, too! 🙂
Don’t forget to subscribe to the Frayed Feathers’ YouTube for first dibs on this information!: https://www.youtube.com/@FrayedFeathers?sub_confirmation=1
Back to youth engagements, last week, I mentioned I would write an article, but what I realized is I can bring more value by creating resources beyond my opinions.
I’m pleased to present you all a Frayed Feathers youth engagement checklist: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lgOhbxzKwKERQzPV4tRPhL9n6VKPUo1QuPzqSp01FxA/edit?usp=sharing
I will create more of these on a case-by-case basis exclusively for newsletter subscribers as a token of my appreciation for everyone reading this! 🙂
For a detailed breakdown of how to improve youth engagements, listen to the Frayed Feathers podcast tomorrow! The link is in the section above!
P.S - Please respond to this email if you have any questions or challenges accessing the link; I’ll ensure you get it! 😎
And that’s all folks!
I’m getting back into the swing of things after my vacation and getting a puppy; I’ll be posting more consistently on LinkedIn and growing my network again.
I’m dialling in my organic marketing system with LinkedIn, YouTube, and now the Newsletter and I can’t thank all of you for being some of the first to sign up for it!
I’m incredibly motivated right now and looking forward to bringing more value than ever about Indigenous youth reconciliation strategy development.
Frayed Reflections:
Better Indigenous youth engagement means higher quality feedback.
High-quality feedback leads to youth voices at all levels of a project.
Youth are not incompetent; they lack exposure to your sector’s discourse.
Puppies are a lot of work.
Peace out! ✌️
